    Introduction: Production Management

If you like to listen to the audio of the video above, click on the link below. You also can download the mp3 file and listen via your smart phone or any other device.

Please read the document below with the introduction to Production Management Module. This module is where Production will help Sales.  Production will have the tools to let Sales know what the capacity of the labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials are.  Another tool we will learn is how to schedule and route the sites.  More pieces of the business puzzle coming together.

Your Production Systems are what will help you deliver the work to the client on time and in a profitable fashion.
It also means less time spent trying to organize the production side of your business during a snow event and more time doing what matters… keeping quality at a maximum and keeping clients happy.

    Capacity Boards

We have learned from the introduction that Capacity Boards are one of the simplest ways to know what the capacity of your company’s labor, equipment, tools, and material are.

So let’s dig in to the nitty-gritty of capacity boards – please read the PDF below.

The Capacity Boards are created preseason and before the start of the sales process.  They guide the company by allowing you to know how much work can be produced.  This gives the sales department a cap… a maximum amount of work that it can sell.

This reduces a lot of headaches because now you know exactly what you can produce and what you can sell. It also gives you an idea of where your production bottlenecks are and where you need to increase capacity in order to grow your company beyond its current size.

    Route Boards

The Site Service Boards and the Route Boards are used during the snow season.  They are used to give your production the base knowledge of what to do, when to do it and your capabilities for each and every snow event.

This will be need to be tweaked per event but when the production men and women have the foundation or base knowledge of about 80% of what has to be done and when then the work load for each event is reduced.

By using all the above you know where your trucks and crews will be throughout the snow event. Plus it creates a much more relaxed working environment for you and your employees when everyone knows exactly where they should be and what they are doing.
